Technip was a pioneer in the liquefaction of natural gas (LNG), building the very first base-load LNG plant in Arzew, Algeria in the early 1960's, followed a few years later by the construction of the plant in Skikda, Algeria, in which a process using two mixed refrigerants was applied for the first time. Today, Technip is engineering liquefaction trains with a total capacity of more than one third of the world LNG trade through gigantic projects in Nigeria, Qatar and Yemen.

Having accumulated experience in NGL recovery from a wide variety of natural and associated gases, Technip offers innovative and efficient solutions based on its proprietary technology CRYOMAX®.
This process allows the efficient cryogenic extraction of NGL (Natural Gas Liquids). Patents also cover special applications of CRYOMAX® in connection with the liquefaction of natural gas.
FVR (Flash Vapor Recycle) and MRE (Multiple Reflux Ethane) are recently patented processes for the extraction of C2+ NGL from natural gas.

Technip ranks today among the top five technology suppliers and contractors in the field of small and medium capacity sulfur units installed in refineries thanks to the expertise developed by its affiliate (Technip KTI SpA). These units range from 5 to over 300 tons per day, with recovery rates of +97% (sulfur recovery only) and 99.9% for sulfur recovery combined with "reduction, absorption, recycle" (RAR™) tail gas treatment.

Technip is a member of the BP Club (modified Claus process and CBA). Furthermore, we are able to propose any suitable process as long as it is available commercially. |
Technip is allied to AIR PRODUCTS and GOAR & ALLISON for the use of COPE technology (with oxygen enriched air).

Through licensing agreements made by its affiliate Technip KTI SpA, Technip also offers: |
BP’s CBA™ (cold bed absorption) process, an extension of the Claus process. This is a subdewpoint cyclic process that can be proposed in different configurations, with efficiency rates of up to 99.5%.
UOP's BSR/SELETOX™ process. This process is based on the selective oxidation of H2S that can be applied as Claus tail gas treatment and for sulfur recovery from lean H2S feedstocks.
