Technip wins a diesel hydrotreater facility project in Riyadh - Saudi Arabia

Technip has been awarded, by Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco), a lumpsum turnkey contract for the addition of Diesel Hydrotreating Facilities at their Riyadh Refinery.

As part of the project, Technip will provide a diesel hydrotreater, an amine regeneration unit, a new sulphur recovery unit, a hydrogen plant and will revamp existing facilities. The plant will be able to produce 45,000 BPSD of low sulphur diesel and have the flexibility to produce extra low sulphur diesel through the installation of additional equipment.

Technip’s contract covers the following services: project management, detail engineering, procurement of equipment and materials, construction management, construction, precommissioning and assistance to commissioning. The overall project will be carried out by Technip’s engineering center in Rome, with the construction being handled by the Group’s local affiliate, Technip Saudi Arabia.

The project began in early August 2003 and completion is slated for January 2006.

This contract falls within the framework of Saudi Arabia’s intention to improve the Kingdom ambient air quality by supplying low sulphur diesel to the domestic market.
