Technip awarded project management contract by La Poste for new strong facilities
Technip has been awarded by La Poste a lump sum services contract worth approximately € 3.5 million. This contract involves the project management of the technical integration for the first two automated sorting facilities to be located in the Val de Loire and Lorraine regions (France), and also includes an option for the next five automated sorting facilities. This contract award follows the basic studies conducted by Technip in February 2004, which defined the organization and equipment location for these new facilities.
The contract falls within the framework of La Poste’s “Mail Quality Project,” the largest mail modernization program it has ever launched. Each 20,000 to 30,000 m² facility will automatically process 3 to 5 million letters per day. With an overall investment of nearly € 3.4 billion between now and 2010, the “Mail Quality Project” also represents one of the largest investment programs in France.
Technip’s operations and engineering center in Lyon will undertake the technical integration within the framework of the project, which includes the operations’ planning and organization, the design of the equipment’s utility networks, the supervision of the installation of equipment to the site, the assistance for the commissioning and acceptance phases and the project’s progress and budget reporting for the integration.
The facilities in the Val de Loire and Lorraine regions are slated to begin operations at the end of 2006.
