Pipelines and subsea infrastructure EPIC contract for Ramco's Seven Heads development

Technip-Coflexip (NYSE: TKP, Euronext: 13170) has announced that one of its affiliates based in the UK, Technip Offshore UK Limited, has been awarded the pipelines and subsea infrastructure EPIC (Engineering, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning) contract from Ramco Seven Heads Limited, a subsidiary of Ramco Energy plc, for their Seven Heads development in Quadrant 48 of the North Celtic Sea Basin, South West Ireland. The contract, worth in excess of £35 million (€54 million), forms part of one of Ireland’s largest new gas developments and further establishes Technip-Coflexip’s position as the leading integrated subsea contractor in this region, following on from the success of earlier contracts for Marathon Ireland.

As part of the contract, Technip Offshore UK will undertake the project management, engineering and design, manufacture and installation of all five in-field flowlines required to tieback the six wells to a central manifold (a total of 27 km of 8” flowlines). It shall also be responsible for the installation of the new manifold at Seven Heads and the project management, procurement and installation of all subsea control umbilicals (a total of 65km) between the remote wells, central manifold and Marathon’s Kinsale ‘A’ platform. All subsea tie-ins, testing and pre-commissioning of the completed infrastructure will also be carried out by Technip Offshore UK with a target of first gas before the end of 2003.

Fabrication of the rigid flowlines will be undertaken at Technip-Coflexip’s Evanton spool base in Scotland with the umbilicals manufactured by Technip-Coflexip subsidiary, Duco in Newcastle. The reel ship, CSO Apache, is scheduled to commence pipe lay operations in March 2003, subject to Irish government approvals, with subsequent trenching support provided by the Trenching Support Vessel (TSV), Normand Pioneer. The Normand Pioneer will also install the 35km main umbilical and five infield umbilicals from Seven Heads to Kinsale “A”. The installation of the manifold, platform riser, tie-ins and testing will be carried out by the Diving Support Vessel (DSV), CSO Wellservicer.

Ian Stevenson, Managing Director for Technip Offshore UK commented: “This is the first time that Technip-Coflexip has worked for Ramco and we are delighted to have this early opportunity to work with them on their most important global asset. We are looking forward to demonstrating our project management and execution capabilities to successfully undertake work of this sort in a safe and timely manner. It also allows us to extend our working relationships in this region and to help enhance the value and useful field life of the existing Kinsale infrastructure to the benefit of the Irish economy.”
