Technip owns and operates several rigid pipe spoolbase facilities located close to clients' deepwater developments.
The Evanton spoolbase, located on the Cromarty Firth in Ross-shire, North Scotland has recently been upgraded. It is primarily used for the fabrication and spooling of rigid pipe onto vessels with reel-lay capability.
Technip has been operating this spoolbase since 1995. It is located on the west coast of Norway, and more than 850 km of 6"-12" diameter pipes have been fabricated since it began operations. The spoolbase typically services the mid-Norwegian Shelf developments.
Technip’s spoolbase in Theodore, Alabama (close to Mobile) serves the nearby Gulf of Mexico market. The facility consists of a pipe receipt and storage area, a fabrication building, a welded pipe stalk storage area, and a quayside. Since its inception in 2001, this spoolbase has fabricated more than 2,000 km of pipe.
This is the latest spoolbase of the Technip group, inaugurated in March 2006.
It is equipped with an automatic welding line for pipe diameter up to 18", fabrication of 1,500-meter long pipe stalks, pipe-in-pipe capability, and plastic liner capability for injection lines.
